About the Pastors' Association

The Pastors' Association is a self-regulating body, setting and maintaining the standards agreed and shared by its members in the work of Christian ministry.

We believe it to be part of our role as a Fellowship to develop co-operation and to provide services to pastors and churches.  Whilst this is an association established by FIEC, it welcomes other men of like mind and conviction.

The purpose of the Association is to be a caring and disciplined body committed to upholding biblical standards in church and ministry.

The Pastors' Association is active in supporting and caring for serving pastors and also in encouraging and training young men for the ministry.  The Pastors' Association acts as link for pastors seeking a church and for churches seeking a pastor.

The Pastors' Association is under the leadership of the President of the FIEC, from August 2007 this will be Rupert Bentley-Taylor, pastor of Widcombe Baptist Church in Bath.

The Pastoral Link Team is composed of men who are members of the Association and whose judgement is respected.  They head the work of the Association and include the President of the FIEC and three others appointed by the FIEC Council.  Other members of the Pastoral Link Team are elected by the members of the Association from among their own number.

Membership of the Pastors' Association is open to men in differing roles in Christian ministry.  The Pastoral Link Team is responsible for considering applications.

We recognise the varied models of leadership and ministry among evangelical churches today.  However, for the purposes of this Association a 'pastor' is understood to be a man who has been called by a local church to join its leadership with particular responsibility for regular preaching, teaching and pastoral care.  This may be in a salaried, part salaried or honorary position.
