The most effective planting and restoration work is done through the initiative of local churches. Therefore, it was decided some time ago that FIEC would not continue to employ people in these roles but would seek to encourage, advise and support local churches in undertaking such work. It was also decided, in consultation with the church planters and restorers already employed by FIEC, that they should become local church-based and independent of FIEC management from 2010.
So the following arrangements have been put in place:
Ron and Yvonne Swales - Newcastle upon Tyne
Ron Swales has accepted a call to become the pastor of Central Hall Evangelical Church. The church will take over the full responsibility for Ron from 1 November 2010.
Robin & Muno Asgher- Cranford
a charitable trust is in the process of being set up to take on the responsibility for Robin Asgher's support arrangements. The board of this trust will consist of representatives of churches that already support Robin's ministry in Cranford. This trust will be fully operational by 1 November 2010.
Julian and Georgie Rebera - Brighton
Julian will continue to lead the work of New Life Church in Moulsecoomb as well as seeking to develop a wider church planting ministry in North Brighton. From 1 July 2010 New Life Church have taken over the responsibility for his support arrangements
Andy and Allison Hutchinson - Blackpool
Andy has already been recognised as the pastor of Rehoboth Christian Centre and from 1 July 2010 the church has taken over the responsibility for his financial support and salary arrangements
The FIEC also supportes a team of church planters and workers of ReachGlobal, the international mission of the Evangelical Free Church of America, based in Birmingham.John and Irene Johnson lead this team working in the Asian communities of Sparkhill and Sparkbrook in South Birmingham, seeking to reach them with the Gospel.
