Overseas Fellowship Support Fund

The Overseas Fellowship and Support Fund enables the FIEC to express in very practical ways its fellowship with churches and individual Christians overseas who are in circumstances of great need. The fund is not intended for the indiscriminate relief of crises arising from natural disasters, civil strife, and other sudden tragedies. It exists primarily to provide help to believers who find themselves in acute rather than chronic situations although sometimes a gift, strategically placed , can relieve longer-term needs.

It also increases the missionary vision of the FIEC by assisting church representatives here in the UK to make mission visits overseas when financial constraints would otherwise prevent them from doing so.

The awarding of grants from the The Overseas Fellowship and Support Fund is entirely at the discretion of the Overseas Relationships Team on behalf of the Council of the FIEC. Members of this Team consider suggestions from churches and individual Christians relating to such needs.

Applications for grants towards overseas visits are welcomed from FIEC pastors and churches, as well as from other churches and Christians in the UK who are in sympathy with our doctrinal basis. Such applications must be made by churches on behalf of their members, and will normally only be considered for people who are actually in membership and in good standing with their church. The application form provided by the FIEC must be used so that requests can be considered on the basis of information given. This will include such matters as the church's missionary vision and commitment, the precise purpose of the proposed visit, and a detailed itinerary and outline of any work to be attempted.

It is important that those who gave to create the Fund should be able to see how it has been used, so arrangements for reporting back to the sending church and to the FIEC, is also a requirement.

The Overseas Fellowship and Support Fund does not normally make a grant of more than 50% of the total cost of any one visit. The FIEC cannot be held responsible in any way for the security and welfare of those who travel with the help of a grant from the Fund. Successful applicants should take all reasonable precautions for their protection and safety. This is entirely their own responsibility.

News from Grants Made

"Things have gone so smoothly and the experience that the group has had has been truly excellent. The Good Lord has worked not only in our lives but in the lives of those out there in Moral. The church in Moral has been blessed in many ways. A new couple came to the service on Sunday, brought about by this week’s events and they feel your love and support and prayers keenly. Already there is talk about possibilities for next year but for now for this week and all that it has brought about through Jesus Christ, to him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity."

We are involved in building a youth/community centre. The main goal of the centre is to introduce non-Christians to Christ ... The money that was received from you was used to purchase a steel structural building."
